While taking a flight for some is already a scary experience, having the flight divert its path to some other country altogether is really a nightmare. That happened recently to the passengers who were flying Lufthansa＊s Frankfurt-Bengaluru flight LH 754.?
The flight was diverted to Istanbul on October 18th due to a medical emergency.?However, Grammy award winner Ricky Tej was also one of the three hundred passengers on that flight. He, along with the others, has been stranded in Istanbul for 31 hours.?
Tej was naturally furious at the airlines and tweeted a couple of posts lashing out at the airlines. He started off by saying, "Can't believe how @lufthansa takes Indian customers for granted. My Frnkfurt-Blore flight landed last evening 7pm in Istanbul for medical emergency. 17 hours later - no hotel, no staff, no explanation, 300 passengers stranded, no info whatsoever. @AmbAckermann @GermanCG_BLR."
For his next tweet, he wrote, "At the boarding gate. It says Currently Boarding.. and not a soul here.. hahaha.. this how messed up things are. This is the kind of negligence and complacency that causes aviation disasters."??
Not just that, the Grammy award winner mentioned how passengers, generally comprised of Indians, have been stranded for 31 hours and no hotels have been provided. "Over 31 hours now... Still stranded in Istanbul. Thanks to the utter disregard of Indian passengers by @lufthansa . Still not even a statement, or any info from them. Zero accountability. Shows how much they care. Two nights now without a bed, no access to luggage, etc."??
Several passengers have also been fuming since the airline reportedly promised them hotel rooms and a quick resolution to the problem and none of it has been provided. The passengers can't even see or meet any staff members to get help.?
According to reports, the?flight?is expected to reach Bengaluru on Thursday morning. The?flight?took off from Germany at 1.05 pm (local time) on Tuesday. However, there was a medical emergency inside the plane while it was flying over the Black Sea in Turkish airspace. It made an emergency landing at Istanbul Airport at around 2 pm (local time).
After the said mishap, the airlines also issued a statement saying, "For safety reasons, the oxygen cylinders used to treat the medical emergency must be replaced before continuing the flight. Unfortunately, this (took) more time than originally expected," Luftansa said in the statement as quoted by TOI.
