GD Prasad grabbed eyeballs for making a unique pitch to the railway minister. Founder of coffee brand VS Mani & Co, he urged the Indian Railway to? include South Indian brands aboard the Vande Bharat Express trains in the region.
Prasad took to X, posting a tweet directed to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Ministry of Railways. Alongside a snapshot of the snack tray served on Vande Bharat, he requested government¡¯s backing for southern brands. Additionally, he volunteered to provide South Indian snacks and filter coffee from his own brand.
?Complimenting the service provided on the Vande Bharat Express, he wrote, ¡°We¡¯re delighted by the world class Vande Bharat in the South. Request your support w/ more brands from our region represented in the snack tray. We¡¯d be honoured to serve filter coffee & South Indian snacks if you give us an opportunity.¡±
The snack tray featured a variety of items including bhujia, peanut brittle, masala chai, and a tetra pack of juice, among others.
GD Prasad, along with his co-founders Rahul Bajaj and Yashas Alur, made an appearance on the second season of the start-up reality show Shark Tank India last year. They secured Rs 19 lakh for 1% equity and Rs 41 lakhs in debt at 10% interest, valuing the company at Rs 19 crores.?
Interestingly, one of the judges, Anupam Mittal, had already invested in VS Mani before its founders appeared on the show.
Prasad expressed the brand's ambition to become the "Haldiram's of South India."
