Tesla and Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Sunday mocked Mark Zuckerberg¡¯s Meta by calling it a?"copycat" for planning to launch a dedicated Twitter-like social media application.
It all started when the music news website Daily Loud posted: "Mark Zuckerberg's Meta exploring plans to launch a rival to Twitter."
On this, a user asked: "Why tho? is he like people are mad at Elon Musk, I'll make an alternative because everyone loves me and Facebook so much."
Commenting on this conversation, Elon Musk said: "Copycat."
Several users commented on Musk's post.
Recently, it was reported that Meta is building a dedicated Twitter-like social media application for people to post text-based updates.?The product is still in its early stages, and no release date has been set, but legal and regulatory teams have already begun to investigate potential privacy concerns surrounding the app to address them before launch, as per IANS.
Several rival platforms have launched or gained traction in the months since billionaire Elon Musk took over Twitter - among them are Mastodon, Post.news, and T2.

Earlier this month, Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey came back into the social media game, with the launch of his Twitter alternative called 'Bluesky'. Just two weeks ago,?Bluesky launched its beta test on the Apple app store.?
Dorsey had first come up with the idea for Bluesky when Twitter banned former US president Donald Trump. Just like Elon Musk, Dorsey perceives content moderation differently. He had said at that time in a Tweet that moderation efforts "can't erode a free and open global internet."
If you wish to access Bluesky, you would have to get on the waiting list via the website. Then, the beta version of the app may be downloaded from the app store - invite-only!
It appears that Bluesky is a lot like Twitter, as?TechCrunch?reported. It asks "what's up?" instead of "what's happening" with a character limit of 256 characters and a simpler option to add images. Just like Twitter, it allows users to see updates on the Home timeline with different feeds for just "posts" and "posts and replies."
