History Repeating Itself? Fan Are Enraged Over HOTD's Dark Scenes, HBO Calls It 'Intentional'
The seventh episode of the prequel series House of the Dragon, which sparked irritation from many viewers due to some scenes being too dark to see, may have brought back memories for "Game of Thrones" aficionados.
The seventh episode of the prequel series House of the Dragon, which sparked irritation from many viewers due to some scenes being too dark to see, may have brought back memories for "Game of Thrones" aficionados. During its last season, GOT sparked a similar outcry, particularly for the darkly lit fight episode The Long Night.
Miguel Sapochnik, the director of both those episodes and Episode 7 of House of the Dragon, received an Emmy.
Although the tale is dark as well, we do concur with the audience that House Of The Dragon is dark. But we meant that the scenes are *literally* too dark to see what's going on.
HBO Social Media Account Says It Was An 'Intentional Creative Decision'
Many viewers complained on Twitter that "House of the Dragon" was too dark to see; in response, one of HBO's social media accounts publicly defended the episode's dark spots as "an intentional creative decision."
In a response to a fan who was angry and wrote, "issue written apology for literally a whole episode of black screen.¡± HBO Max Help account wrote, "We appreciate you reaching out about a night scene in ¡®House of the Dragon¡¯ Episode 7 appearing dark on your screen."

I¡¯m gonna need @hbomax to issue a written apology for literally a whole episode of black screen of #HouseOfTheDragon

This is ridiculous.
Netizens discussed the darkness in "House of the Dragon" Episode 7
It was so dark!!! I tried every setting on my TV then I figured out when I paused it it was lighter!! So I kept pausing it!! Boo for the artistic choice of a dimmed scene! It was not dimmed it was dark and detracted from the scene.

You know the scenes they were talking about. They were too dark, it breaks the immersion when you feel the need to pause the episode and make sure your brightness settings aren't fucked up.

I watched on my phone, I admit it's very dark but at least watchable on oled screens, I'll watch it again on my OLED TV with Dolby vision definitely will improve as it did on the long night episode, I understand not all TVs have Dolby, but will be more prevalent in the future

Some people felt that the scenes were too dark for them to see, however, others disagree
You¡¯re meant to experience the dark the way the characters are experiencing it. People are so entitled with the shows they watch. If you don¡¯t like it, stop watching or pay to have it done yourself. No apology necessary if all you did was sit and watch a TV show

I didn't have any issues watching, so was surprised to see this as news. There were dark scenes, yes, but I could still see everything. Didn't seem remotely as dark as the scenes from GoT that caused outrage.

You need to apologize to yourself for a crap viewing situation.
If your screen is still black, make sure it's turned on. ?

I had no issue seeing it. You should apologize to yourself for having a crappy TV. With a proper HDR tv the episode was just fine
