Maa OTT Release: Kajol is set to return to the big screen with this horror-thriller directed by Vishal Furia. The film revolves around a mother¡¯s struggle to protect her daughter from supernatural forces in a rural setting. If you are wondering where to watch it on OTT, then Maa will be streaming on Netflix after its theatrical run concludes. Here¡¯s what we know more about the film.
Maa¡¯s plot preview
Maa is set in Chandanpur, West Bengal, where Kajol¡¯s character faces unexplained supernatural occurrences threatening her daughter. The film is expected to be a mix of horror and drama, focusing on the emotional depth of a mother-daughter relationship while incorporating eerie elements. Kajol plays the central character, and her role is said to be physically and emotionally challenging.
While she has explored multiple genres in her career, Maa marks one of her rare appearances in a horror film. Ajay Devgn, who is the film¡¯s producer, reportedly suggested adding more action sequences after watching early edits. Following his input, additional action scenes were shot in Mumbai in November to strengthen the film¡¯s impact.
RP Yadav, known for his work in Tanhaji and Shaitaan, has been brought in to handle the new action sequences. Maa is produced by the makers of the hit 2024 film Shaitaan. Presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, the film is bankrolled by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak. Maa is currently in post-production and will hit the theatres on 27th June 2025.
Directed by Vishal and written by Saiwyn Quadras, the thriller also stars Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta, and Kherin Sharma in key roles. A press note from the filmmakers reads, ¡°Maa explores the timeless battle between good and evil, delivering spine-chilling suspense and intense drama.¡±
