Janhvi Kapoor Addresses Rumours Of Paying Producers To Bag Films, Says IĄ¯m Getting Work On My Merit
Janhvi Kapoor who is often mocked for being a star kid has said that no producer will give her films out of nowhere and face a monetary loss.
Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor is currently garnering appreciation for the trailer of her film Mili. Janhvi who has been mocked for being one of the star kids has now opened up on the pros and cons of it. She has admitted that maybe her first and second film was through industry connections, but no producer would have cast her later if they hadnĄ¯t seen merit in her offerings.
In conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Janhvi expressed that she cannot afford to pay people to cast her in movies and itĄ¯s all her talent that is subsidizing.
Ą°IĄ¯ve analysed this on the basis of the kind of opportunities that IĄ¯m getting. My first film, yes, perhaps there was a curiosity about me being Sridevi and Boney KapoorĄ¯s daughter. And maybe that curiosity extended to my second film. But what about the ones after that? TheyĄ¯ve seen me now. What curiosity could there possibly be anymore?Ąą she said.
The Roohi actress further continued, Ą°Now if IĄ¯m getting any work, it must be on the merit of what they think I can offer. ItĄ¯s not like IĄ¯m paying people to take me (in their films). IĄ¯m not that rich. Nor is my dad. They mustĄ¯ve appreciated something about me. Nobody is so large-hearted that theyĄ¯d launch a star kid and take a monetary loss.Ąą
Undue to the fact that comparisons were high between Janhvi and her mother Sridevi, to which the former had a mindful answer.
Ą°I donĄ¯t think anyone will come close to my motherĄ¯s stardom. I wasnĄ¯t there when she was shooting and at her peak because I was born after she took a break from movies. But, of course, I got a sense of it, with people speaking so passionately about her films, performances, the kind of person she was on set, her contributionĄ I think itĄ¯s rare and doesnĄ¯t happen twice. ItĄ¯s just once-in-a-lifetime,Ąą Janhvi had told Goodtimes.
On the professional front
Janhvi got a big break in Bollywood when she debuted with 2018Ą¯s Dhadak opposite Ishaan Khatter. She further got a lead role in Zoya AkhtarĄ¯s short film for the Netflix anthology Ghost Stories. Janhvi further also starred in films such as Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Roohi, and Good Luck Jerry. She who is currently gearing up for Mili will also be seen in Mr and Mrs Mahi, and Bawaal.
