You might recognize Aasif from various shows like Jamtara, Pataal Lok, and Mirzapur, where his smaller roles might not have stood out. However, in Panchayat, despite having a minor role, he garnered significant popularity due to his outstanding performance.
Arrival in Mumbai and initial struggle
Do you know he came to Mumbai in 2009 with a dream of working in Bollywood? He started working at a hotel, where he used to wash dishes. During Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor's wedding reception, he asked his manager if he could go out once to see his idols, but he was denied permission. He cried that day.

"I started working as a waiter at a hotel. After a few months, when I was working in the kitchen department, we had a party which was Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor¡¯s reception. The first time I saw film stars and Mr (Amitabh) Bachchan. Soon after, I left that job, and started working in a mall and giving auditions. I was told to learn acting and do theatre," he had told Hindustan Times in an interview.

Rejections and the Turning Point
Struggling to become an actor in Mumbai, he managed to get an appointment with a casting agency that rejected him on the basis of his looks. He was advised to learn acting first. He took this quite seriously and he went to Jaipur and joined the theatre.

After doing that for six years, he came back to Mumbai and joined Abhishek Banerjee and Anmol Ahuja's casting company. He did casting for a year and gradually started featuring in movies for cameo roles. He has played small roles in movies like Toilet Ek Prem Katha, Pari and India¡¯s Most Wanted among others.
