¡®Karan Johar Is The Sima Taparia Of Showbiz¡¯, Says Twinkle Khanna Revealing Why She Skips KWK
Karan Johar who is known for fixing matches in Bollywood has now been called out by Twinkle Khanna as the 'Seema Aunty' of movie businesses.
Filmmaker Karan Johar is known for playing cupid to so many Bollywood couples. He¡¯s known to have made successful matches in the industry and that has made Twinkle Khanna call him the ¡®Sima Aunty¡¯ of movie businesses. For the unversed, Sima Taparia is a popular matchmaker from Netflix¡¯s reality show Indian Matchmaking.
In a conversation for Tweak India, Twinkle Khanna called out Karan for fixing matches in showbiz.
She said, ¡°You are the Sima aunty of the movie business. You keep doing this matchmaking and your father did the same thing. When I was speaking to Waheeda Rahman, she mentioned that your father fixed up her marriage, it¡¯s some genetic predisposition to get people together.¡±
Agreeing with Twinkle, Karan laughed and replied, ¡°I take on the responsibility like I have to do it. It just makes me very happy to do it. It¡¯s like one of the agendas in my life. Vidya (Balan) called me the other day. It was her 12th anniversary, and I had introduced her to Siddharth Roy Kapoor. I was so touched by this call, more than any feedback for a film.¡±
When asked about some budding matches in Bollywood, Karan found a way to divert the conversation and find a balance to his anticipated revelations. Johar said, ¡°I don¡¯t think they would like me to go public with that information. Contrary to public opinion, there¡¯s a lot that I keep secret to myself.¡±
Twinkle even found her chance to mock Karan for asking constant questions about sex on his show Koffee with Karan and said¡
¡°Who would you rather sleep with, Aamir Khan or Shah Rukh Khan?¡± KJo was stunned and said, ¡°I¡¯ve never asked that, how can I ask that?¡± KJo then tried turning the tables around on her and she answered, ¡°I am not going to answer, that¡¯s why I don¡¯t come on Koffee with Karan.¡±
Before his father and veteran producer Yash Johar passed away in 2004, Karan reveals to have had no clues about the funds and finances of Dharma Productions.
Karan shared, ¡°I had come from my first award show and I had signed quite a few autographs, rather enjoyed doing it. Those were non-selfie days. I came back to the office and he (his father) asked me to sign a few cheques. I had signed ¡®lots of Love¡¯ on the cheques.¡±
¡°So my father barged in and said, ¡®They don¡¯t want your love, they want your money. I was so used to signing autographs that I wrote ¡®lots of love¡¯ on a cheque too. When my father passed away, I sat in my office and met my chartered accountant for the first time,¡± Karan concluded.
