The Kashmir Files, based on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits that took place 32 years ago, has been the topic of discussion ever since its release. While some people are lauding the film and find it emotionally overwhelming, there is a certain section that is going against it and expressing its anger. Much to the makers' delight, The Kashmir Files has got an approval from none other than PM Narendra Modi.
PM Narendra Modi, while speaking at the BJP's parliamentary party meeting, said that the makers of The Kashmir Files 'had the guts to portray the truth'.
A video shared by news agency ANI shows the Prime Minister talking about the film. He begins by saying that just like books, the film industry also has certain importance in bringing out history in front of the society with the correct perspective. He then goes on to say that these days there is a lot of discussion going around the film The Kashmir Files. He further says,
"The people who are always carrying around the flags of freedom of expression have suddenly got very agitated. They are not discussing the film as a piece of art. Instead, they are trying very hard to discredit the film."
The PM also said that it is not about making a case for a film but about the truth which should come out.
"The makers of the film had the guts to portray the truth. Whatever they thought the truth is, they tried to put out. But these people have not tried to accept or welcome this truth and they don¡¯t want the world to see the film," he added.
