Delhi's pollution in the past week has gone from bad to worse. It has become so toxic that the Supreme Court-mandated panel declared a public health emergency in the Delhi-NCR region in the wake of rising level of pollution. Even schools in Delhi have been shut till Tuesday because of this. However, what we are missing here is the fact that Delhiites are sandwiched in the political bickering between the Centre and state government.

It is very imp that we protect ourselves from this toxic air. Through pvt & govt schools, we have started distributing 50 lakh masks today
I urge all Delhiites to use them whenever needed pic.twitter.com/MYwRz9euaq
On the other hand, union environment minister Prakash Javadekar slammed Kejriwal for politicising the issue of air pollution in Delhi and indulging in a blame game by blaming everybody, including neighbouring states and the Centre.
Union Environment&Climate Change Minister, P Javadekar: I think it's unfortunate that a CM instead of finding solutions to mitigate pollution is into blame game. Instead of spending Rs1500 cr on ads, if Delhi govt gives it to farmers of Punjab&Haryana, it will be more beneficial. pic.twitter.com/BOmrBjzhx4

In the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre and Kejriwal-led state tussle, it is the locals in Delhi who are breathing this toxic air.
Netizens were quick to respond to this blame-game expressing their helplessness and anguish.
A CM who can not manage...

he spent his entire five years only blaming others
Firstly Narendra Modi & Center
Then Lt Governor of Delhi his boss
and nowadays Mohan Lal Khattar & Capt Amrinder Singh
Pollution in Delhi just goes on unabated!@ArvindKejriwal#DelhiAirEmergency
So many stalwarts who really want to bring solutions. Let's not play any Government blame game and have collective responsibility. Instead, concentrate on how to derive solutions rather than targeting individuals or Governments. #delhiairemergency pic.twitter.com/E8PZ1lrJKU

#DelhiAirEmergency Instead of loan waivers to farmers, govt should give them machinery to manage stubble instead of burning.

Respiratory ailments have risen exponentially and doctors feels if the pollution levels remain unabated, the situation will get worse.
Stubble burning is also another factor that has been hampering our air but the ruling dispensation seems to realise this every year only after Diwali when everything gets out of hand.
The present Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital is hovering above the 400-mark. Putting that into perspective, the normal range is between 0-50 and Delhi's AQI index stands between 301-400 which falls under 'very poor' category.
These figures are highly worrisome and it's high time our leaders come together in unison and take a saner and rational approach in fighting this prolonged pollution battle.
