Apple India online store is now live and Apple fans in the country have been raking the store for any and everything Apple has to offer. The products for sale range from the Apple iPhones to MacBooks, iPads, AirPods and even Apple iMacs and Mac Pro. The last one though, might be a luxury for only those with hefty pockets.
That is because the Mac Pro, which gained much popularity at the time of its launch for resembling a cheese grater, is the most capable device that Apple has to offer as of now. Meant for professional use, the Mac Pro starts at a price of just under Rs 5 lakh. But if you are in the mood for decking it up with all that Apple has to offer, be prepared to shell out as much as Rs 60 lakh or more on a single unit.
We rifled through the customisations that Apple offered on the Mac Pro, just to see what is on offer vis-a-vis the price to be paid for it. Turns out, Apple has left no stone unturned for those wanting the ultimate CPU performance from their system. The Mac Pro comes equipped with so much processing power that it will certainly be difficult to put it all to use.
Rs 60 lakh CPU
So how does the Rs 5 lakh CPU reach up to the price of a premium SUV from the likes of BMW and Audi? Here are all the customisations that we opted for and how much they cost on the Apple India store.
First, we selected the Mac Pro Rack style over the Tower format. The unit, without any customisations, costs Rs 5,49,900, up from the Rs 4,99,900 price of the Mac Pro Tower. Further customisations include -
- 2.5GHz 28?core Intel Xeon W processor (Turbo Boost up to 4.4GHz) over the standard 3.5GHz 8?core Intel Xeon W processor (Turbo Boost up to 4.0GHz). Additional price - Rs 7 lakh.
- 1.5TB (12x128GB) of DDR4 ECC memory over standard 32GB (4x8GB) of DDR4 ECC memory. Additional price - Rs 25 lakh.
- Two Radeon Pro Vega II Duo with 2x32GB of HBM2 memory each. This was selected over the standard Radeon Pro 580X with 8GB of GDDR5 memory. Additional price - 10.8 lakh.
- 8TB SSD storage over 256GB SSD storage. Additional price - 2.6 lakh.
- Apple Afterburner card for additional Rs 2 lakh.
- Stainless steel frame with wheels over feet for additional Rs 40,000.
- Magic Mouse 2 + Magic Trackpad 2 for Rs 12,900.
- Pre-installed Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro X for Rs 24,900 and Rs 15,500 respectively.
Once the Mac Pro is configured, Apple also lets you choose accompanying devices such as its Pro Display XDR that costs up to Rs 5.3 lakh for the variant with nano-texture glass. If you opt for a stand along with it, be ready to pay an additional Rs 91,900. A Vesa mount adapter will further bump this up by Rs 18,900.
At this point, the total cost of your cart on the newly opened Apple India store will spell Rs 59,83,900. In case you still manage to find a few extra bucks to spend on the system, make sure to opt for AppleCare+ for both the Mac Pro and the Apple Display for Rs 24,900 and Rs 50,900 respectively.
Or you can just go and buy a house or the likes of Jaguar XF, BMW X3 or Volvo XC60 for this price. Choose wisely!
