From getting tattoos to learning GenZ lingo: D Gukesh and Vishwanathan Anand take on comedy in latest ad, leaving fans?in?stitches

While no one can match their chess skills, GM Gukesh Dommaraju and GM Viswanathan Anand have proven that their talents extend far beyond the chessboard in their latest hilarious video ad. Since winning the title from GM Ding Liren in Singapore just a month ago, Gukesh has been busy with activities like bungee jumping, meeting VIPs, and accepting prestigious awards.

Now, the 18-year-old has embarked on a new journey！acting！as he made his debut in an ad for Myntra, the e-commerce giant, directed by India's top ad and content creator, Vishal Dayama.

What is the ad about?

In the ad, Gukesh is seen getting a tattoo of his most iconic moment, as he tells Anand that he wants to keep a memory alive. So, when Anand asks how it feels to be world champion, Gukesh replies, "Amazing, sir! So many people want to touch the trophy!"

Anand humorously interrupts: "Actually, I wanted to check if..." but Gukesh believes he wants to touch the trophy as well and says, "Of course, sir! You can touch!"

Quick to hit back, Anand says, "Touch? Mere paas paanch hain!" ("I have five of those myself.") "Do you want to touch four more?"

Soon after, the two get involved in how to be more in tune with today's youth, who are Gukesh's age. The ad, promoting Myntra's Gen-Z fashion brand fwd, sees Anand seeking help from Gukesh to understand Gen-Z lingo. Gukesh, with a smile, responds: "Sir, nobody can teach this, especially at your age´ at your stature, I meant!"

Interestingly, Anand also breaks into a Michael Jackson pose when Gukesh asks him to learn about pop culture.

These scenes from the ad have surely got netizens laughing, as no one expected the duo to be so good at acting and showing off their talents, with many in fact calling them cute.

Gukesh's reaction to the ad

Director Vishal Dayama posted on X (formerly Twitter): "Wrote and directed this film for Fwd by Myntra featuring the world champions！@DGukesh and @vishy64theking. Produced by us at @braindaddotco but mostly by Devarsh!" The chess champion reposted the ad and wrote, "It was fun," with a grinning face and sweat emoji.

As far as chess is concerned, Gukesh will make a return in the Tata Steel Chess tournament in the Netherlands starting this Saturday.
