Aditya Srivastava, a Lucknow native, has won the coveted civil services examination for 2023, with Animesh Pradhan and Donuru Ananya Reddy finishing second and third, respectively.
Where did Aditya Srivastava study?
Srivastava completed his education at the CMS Lucknow Aliganj branch. Later, he attended IIT-Kanpur for further schooling before landing a position at Goldman Sachs.

Srivastava had numerous opportunities to advance in the corporate world, but he chose civil service instead. In a recent video posted on YouTube, Srivastava explained why he quit his high-paying career to become a public servant.
What motivated the topper to stay in India?
He provided two main explanations for this. First, he claims that he became motivated after reading about brain drain at school and wanted to stay in India. Second, he stated that he wanted to take care of his elderly parents.

Why did he not take up the job at Goldman Sachs?
During the interview, he stated why he left his position at Goldman Sachs, which paid ?2.5 lakhs per month.
The topper said, "Firstly, if you see that coming from the area that I come from, even the blessings are of the form, that you become a collector, so there was some kind of knowledge about civil services I had from the beginning, but the final change where I took it seriously was when during my job days. I had a volunteering experience where I realised that just going and feeding the children is not enough to have a meaningful impact on their lives. Thirdly, I would say that there is also an element of social prestige associated with it."
