According to a report by ET, the email also encouraged employees to "grow glocal" and consider advancing their careers at the Hubballi development centre. Sources familiar with the matter mentioned that Infosys aims to promote opportunities for employees from the Mumbai-Karnataka region to work closer to home through this policy. The move is expected to help optimize the utilization of Infosys' modern facility in Hubballi and reduce operational costs. Additionally, the policy allows employees to continue their current projects from the Hubballi development centre.

The relocation policy applies to employees at band 2 and above who are managing projects from any development centre in India. According to a financial daily, the incentive package varies based on the employee's seniority within the company. Employees at band 3 and below will receive Rs 25,000 upon relocation and an additional Rs 25,000 every six months for two years, totaling Rs 1.25 lakh over 24 months. Higher-level employees will receive larger incentives ranging from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh, including the initial relocation allowance, by the end of the 24-month period.

Aims to encourage local talent
Karnataka's Industries and Infrastructure Minister MB Patil commended Infosys' incentive policy, which aims to encourage local talent from the Kittur Karnataka region to pursue job opportunities closer to their homes. In a social media post, Patil stated, "This initiative encourages local talent from the Kittur Karnataka region to explore opportunities closer to home, fostering community bonds and local development."
Patil also praised Infosys for its commitment to developing advanced campuses and employing numerous engineers globally, underscoring the company's leadership and positive impact on regional economies. He emphasized that this initiative not only supports local growth but also reflects Infosys' dedication to innovation and employee well-being in the technology sector.
The announcement follows discussions in the Karnataka Assembly in February concerning Infosys' Hubballi campus, which had not yet commenced operations. Arvind Bellad, a BJP MLA representing Hubli-Dharwad West, raised concerns about Infosys acquiring 58 acres of land for a campus promising employment opportunities but currently using it for plantations.
Bellad voiced support for Infosys' incentive policy, believing it would contribute to regional development, create direct and indirect employment opportunities, and allow many employees to reunite with their families.
In its April 2023 annual report, Infosys announced plans to establish offices in various Indian cities, including Hubballi, Indore, Navi Mumbai, Nagpur, and Coimbatore, as part of its strategic initiatives for the year.
