The Indian government has raised concerns over the age limit for conceiving a child through IVF (in vitro fertilisation) after the parents of the late singer Sidhu Moose Wala welcomed their second child last week.
This comes as the singer's father, Balkaur Singh, has alleged harassment from the district administration regarding documentation for the newborn.

The Union health ministry has initiated an inquiry into the matter, seeking a report from the Punjab government regarding the IVF treatment undergone by Charan Singh.
The ministry underscored that according to the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, the age limit for women seeking ART services ranges from 21 to 50 years.
"In accordance with Section 21(g)(i) of the Assisted Reproductive Technology (Regulation) Act, 2021, the prescribed age limit for women undergoing ART services is between 21 and 50 years," stated a letter from the ministry.
Meanwhile, in response to the letter from the Health Ministry, the Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party expressed its views on social media platform X.
The post said, "The @BJP4India ruled Central Govt has sought a report from Govt of Punjab regarding IVF treatment of Smt. Charan Singh (Late Sidhu Moosewala's mother) CM Bhagwant Mann always respects the sentiments & dignity of Punjabis, it's the Central Govt that has asked for the documents! Urge the people to have a look at the facts and not to believe in any rumours."
In an emotional appeal via Instagram, Balkaur Singh pleaded with the administration to cease the harassment, emphasising that he will provide all necessary documents once the treatment process concludes.
"The district is harassing me to furnish documents about the child. I implore the government and the Chief Minister to allow the treatment to conclude. I will cooperate fully and provide all legal documents as required," Singh stated in his video message.
Last Saturday, the couple, still grieving the loss of their son, who was fatally shot nearly two years ago, celebrated the arrival of a new family member.
Charan Singh, aged 58, underwent IVF treatment to conceive the child, as confirmed by a relative earlier this year.
Despite the ongoing scrutiny, Balkaur Singh shared the picture of the newborn on Instagram, reassuring well-wishers of the family's health.
The elder son, Sidhu Moose Wala, a prominent singer-turned-politician, tragically lost his life in Punjab's Mansa district on May 29, 2022.
