It's a story straight that sounds like a Bollywood script. After every IAS or IPS officer we have heard of, has been the studious and intelligent one since childhood. However, IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma's story--whose role Vikrant Massey is playing in 12th Fail--is different. As the title of the movie suggests, the man failed in Class 12.?
A resident of Morena district of Madhya Pradesh,?IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma comes from humble background. After scoring?third division in Class 9 and Class 10, he?failed in all subjects except Hindi in Class 12.
Later,? he fell in love with a girl Shraddha Joshi. He was lucky as when he decided to ask her out, she said yes. He had reportedly told her that if she said yes, he would turn the world around for her, and indeed he did.?
Since his financial condition was not good, he took up odd jobs. From driving a tempo to sometimes having slept with the?beggars, he did it all. He even worked as a dog walker. However, the job that gave him direction was when he?worked in a library, where he got to?read about the life stories of personalities of many famous writers from Gorky and Abraham Lincoln to Muktibodh. This helped him and inspired him too.?
He started prepping for UPSC soon after he completed his graduation. However, he kept failing one after the other. After three failed attempts, he didn't give up and finally cleared on his fourth attempt. His girlfriend, who is now his wife, Shraddha Joshi was his biggest support through his struggles. He scored an?All India 121 rank.?
IPS Manoj Kumar Sharma is currently posted as Additional Commissioner in Mumbai Police and is quite popular for his?domineering style and is often called Singham and Simba.
