India has launched efforts to extradite Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of jailed Lawrence Bishnoi, who has reportedly been detained in the US. The 25-year-old who was directly involved in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022, fled the country on a forged passport a month before the assassination.??

The US State Department on Monday declined to comment on the potential deportation of Anmol Bishnoi, stating that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the FBI.??
"It would be appropriate, if anyone is going to comment on such a report, it would be the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, not the State Department. I prefaced it that way because they may decline to comment, but I certainly am not going to comment on something that falls within their jurisdiction," US State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller said.??
