In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death by another teenager in Delhi's Welcome area during a robbery attempt.
The incident happened in Janta Mazdoor Colony on Tuesday night.
The victim, a 17-year-old resident of Jafrabad, was walking on a narrow alleyway when he was confronted by the accused.
The 16-year-old boy, who was reportedly in an inebriated state, demanded money from the victim to buy biryani.
But when the 17-year-old refused, the accused attacked him. He first choked the victim, and after he collapsed, the accused stabbed him repeatedly with a knife.
Police said that the boy was stabbed around 60 times in his head and neck.
CCTV visuals from the crime scene showed the accused repeatedly stabbing the victim.
In the video, the accused also can be seen taking a pause and breaking into a bizarre 'dance' before stabbing the victim again.
Visuals further showed the 16-year-old 'celebrating' his act and dragging the lifeless body of his victim through the street.
According to the police, the victim had just Rs 350 in his pocket, which the accused took from him before fleeing the spot.
The victim was rushed to GTB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
"On Tuesday, a PCR call was received at around 11.15 pm that a youth, aged around 18 years, was stabbed to death by a minor in a bid to rob him in Janta Mazdoor colony in Welcome area," Deputy Commissioner of Police (northeast) Joy Tirkey said.
"CCTV footage were checked and the accused was identified. He is a 16-year-old boy. The knife that was used has also been recovered. The motive was robbery...The accused was trying to steal money. When the victim resisted, he was first choked and then stabbed," he added.
Based on the CCTV visuals, the 16-year-old was identified and arrested on Wednesday.
