Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra has said that he has decided to accept the job offer by Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal to work with his company to address the mounting customer complaints about the quality of its EVs. Kamra 'accepted' the job more than three weeks after Aggarwal made the offer on social media during their verbal spat.
According to Kamra, he had no choice but to accept the job offer as he ¡°anyway feels like an Ola employee,¡± since he was being tagged thousands of times on social media by users complaining about issues they were facing with their EVs.
Kamra, however, laid down a set of conditions for him to work with Ola. These are:
1. Ola Electric must stand firm in its commitment to solving its service crisis.
2. Ola must commit to completing all scooter repairs within 7 business days from the service request at authorised service centres.
3. For repairs extending beyond this period, customers will first receive either a temporary replacement scooter or daily conveyance reimbursement of Rs. 500 until repair completion. Additionally, customers will earn Rs. 500 per delayed day (up to Rs. 50,000).
4. Every new Ola electric scooter must be sold with two types of insurance: one for the scooter and one for the services (service insurance should be free for the customer).
Ola founder and CEO Aggarwal landed himself and his company under unprecedented social media scrutiny earlier this month after he decided to target Kamra personally for raising the issue of Ola electric scooter problems faced by customers.
In response, Aggarwal launched a verbal tirade against Kamra, calling him a failed comedian, offering him a job at Ola, and promising to pay him more than what he earned from the tweet or his failed comedy career.
The social media exchange blew up massively, with thousands of Ola users soon tagging Kamra on their unresolved complaints about their electric scooters.
