Under pressure from traders and the general public who are struggling to adjust their daily lives without everyday plastic materials, the Maharashtra government might soon announce some relaxations on the restrictions.
After meeting President of Chamber of Associations of Maharashtra Industry & Trade (CAMIT)delegation, CM Devendra Fadnavis has reportedly decided to postpone plastic ban by three months.

There are also reports that the government may soon lift the ban on some items like retail packaging of products, PET bottles etc, on the condition that the manufacturer sets up a mechanism to collect and recycle this plastic material.? ?
This comes as general public and small traders across the state are trying out all sorts of stuff to replace plastic.

In the absence of the plastic bags, fish and meat vendors are either packing the items in paper bags or asking their patrons to carry steel or aluminium containers.
Others like vegetable and fruit vendors are are selling their products wrapped in paper, which the customers say are not safe and that it gets torn mid-way.

Small time retailers have also complained that they have seen a drop in business, since the ban was imposed.
Others also pointed out that ban will have an adverse impact on people especially during the monsoon.?
