Former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid exercised his voting right in Bengaluru amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. He was seen waiting in line like any other citizen, refusing special treatment. Police officials surrounded him to ensure smooth voting.
"It's my vote. This is an opportunity for all of us to celebrate our democracy and take part in it. The Police have done a great job, the arrangements are fantastic. I hope that Bengaluru creates a record in terms of voter turnout. Everyone should come out, you, the media should send out a message to the public so that adequate discussion are done on this so that they can come out in large numbers," Rahul Dravid told India Today.
Another former captain, Anil Kumble, also cast his vote with his wife and shared a picture on social media.
Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid is spending time with his family before the 2024 T20 World Cup amidst the ongoing IPL 2024. India recently defeated England 4-1 in a home Test series.
Dravid aims to lead India well in the T20 World Cup, set to be held in the USA and the West Indies in June. India will start their campaign against Ireland on June 5.
Under Dravid's coaching, India reached the finals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and the 2023 ICC World Test Championship but faced defeats against Australia both times.
Dravid previously led India to victory in the U19 World Cup in 2018 and hopes to achieve similar success with the senior men's team.
