Rafael Nadal set a new world record in men's singles when he sealed his 21st Grand Slam by winning the 2022 edition of the Australian Open.??
He defeated Daniil Medvedev 2-6, 6(5)-7, 6-4, 6-4, 7-5 in the final to go past Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic who both have won 20 Grand Slams.
Nadal came from two sets behind to pull off what seemed like an unlikely victory.
Nadal now has the most Grand Slam wins by a player in men's singles.?
Federer was not taking part as he was recovering from surgery and Djokovic had been deported as he was unvaccinated so could not play.?

This is only his 2nd Australian Open title and 1st since 2009.?
The bulk of his Grand Slams has come in the French Open - 13.
