We¡¯ve heard countless stories of how Apple Watch has saved people's lives in the nick of time, by monitoring their heart rate and notifying them about any anomaly or recognising if someone¡¯s been in an accident and contacting authorities in time.?
However now, Apple Watch has taken things to a whole new level by actually saving someone from a kidnapping.?
Reported first by Fox San Antonio, the cops were first alerted by the daughter of the woman who was kidnapped by one Adalberto Longoria. According to the daughter, both Longoria and the mother were arguing about something when the daughter suddenly heard screams.
Reportedly, Longoria had kidnapped her on the back of his pickup truck after an argument between the two outside the victim¡¯s house. Longoria asked her to get her things out of the bed of the truck, but when she tried to do that, Longoria got into the truck and drove while she was still in it.?
The mother then called the daughter using the Apple Watch telling her that she had been kidnapped. However, soon after, the call got disconnected and went unreachable. The cops then looked at the emergency cellular ping to look for the mother¡¯s phone. The ping revealed the location to be on East Sonterra Boulevard at the Hyatt Place Hotel -- the exact spot where she was at.?
When they arrived at the parking lot, they found the woman in the vehicle of the hotel¡¯s parking lot. The kidnapper had fled the scene. However, cops were able to find and arrest him, charging him with Aggravated Kidnapping.?
Last year, Apple Watch saved the life of an 80-year old with its ECG feature. The feature highlighted an irregularity in heart rate in time in a hospital -- something that the hospital's machine couldn't recognise in time.?
However, this could be the first time an Apple Watch has come to someone¡¯s rescue in a kidnapping case.
