A man posted on X about his unhappiness with the seats given to his family of four on an IndiGo trip.
In his tweet, Akshay Baheti stated that he received four unique boarding passes for four different seats on his journey from Chennai to Mumbai. His message even drew the attention of the airline, which clarified in a series of posts.
"I, my wife, and our 8 and 3-year-old kids, travelling on @IndiGo6E on the same PNR, allotted 4 separate seats. We two will manage, but not sure about those sitting next to the kids. IndiGo is indeed unique. Don't think any other airline allots separate seats to 3-year-olds," reads the caption of the post.
In response to this post, IndiGo Airlines explained that the airline never intended to split a family traveling together by giving separate row seats. However, they stated that Baheti had completed his check-in at the airport, where seats are given based on availability.?
They also suggested that their consumers pre-book their chosen seats?online. According to the company, "Hence, we always recommend our customers to pre-book their preferred seats online for a hassle-free travel."?
Many people criticized IndiGo for its response to the matter."This explanation may not be applicable to a 3-year-old traveling with another adult. Your systems must allow them to seat together at the time of booking," a source stated.?
However, in his latest posts on X, Akshay Baheti explained a few topics. Baheti discussed "basic human decency" and alternative strategies to allocate immediate seats while keeping a parent-child situation in mind.?
Since being placed online on March 31, the post has received about 3 lakh views, with people expressing diverse emotions in the comments section.?
