Exorcisms are already well-known among horror fans, as they are a frequent plot line in the genre's films - yet the truth of this ritual is far more terrifying than Hollywood portrays.We've seen movie stars ripping devils out of people in cult classics like The Exorcist, The Devil Inside, and The Pope's Exorcist, but we rarely hear from someone who claims to have the ability to banish evil in real life.?
Father Vincent Lampert has spoken up about his terrifying - to say the least - experiences over the last three decades, after being ordained and appointed head exorcist of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
So, in addition to his regular priestly duties, he devotes a large amount of time to liberating individuals from the forces of evil.?
Father Lampert was nominated to his onerous position by Indianapolis Archbishop Daniel M. Buechlein, before being transferred to Rome to undergo exorcism training with Father Carmine de Filippis, who is something of a legend in this field.?

The 61-year-old was mentored by the Diocese of Rome's resident exorcist expert and studied everything he could from the Franciscan priest with over 25 years of experience in the subject.Father Lampert witnessed 40 exorcisms during his journey to Italy, and boy does he have some stories.
Father Lampert described how, as soon as a drop of holy water contacted her flesh, 'the demon emerged', causing the woman's eyes to roll to the back of her head and her to foam at the lips while screaming 'all kinds of blasphemies'.?

Most of us would flee after witnessing such atrocities, but he has survived numerous others.But there is one exorcism in particular that he would like to forget.
"At one exorcism I sat in on, the demon laughed hysterically and began to levitate," he said.He claimed that the man who thought he was possessed 'rose a foot out of the chair' he was sitting in, but Father Carmine scarcely batted an eyelash.

According to Father Lampert, demonic possession is quite uncommon, yet he still receives roughly 2,000 communications from people claiming to be possessed each year.These people don't just walk in and get exorcised.
