A passenger in Ireland had to buy a flight ticket just so he could try to find his lost luggage at the Dublin airport.?
Dermot Lennon, from Castleblaney in Co Monaghan returned to Dublin from a family trip to Brisbane, Australia on June 27. Unfortunately, the man had to leave without his luggage.?
He told?RT?'s Claire Byrne Show?that he went back on July 4, since his luggage was still missing and he wasn't getting any answers after calling the airport. Even though he spent the entire day at the airport trying to find his bag there was no luck?because authorities were only allowing a limited number of people to enter a restricted zone for luggage. There were also security checks involved.
Lennon described the entire situation as "completely chaotic."
This is when he decided to buy a flight ticket just so that he go to the baggage claim area: "I went onto the website, and I got the cheapest ticket I could," which he said was a ticket to Glasgow, Scotland, for 18 euros ($18.20.)
He added, "The place was just littered with bags, there were thousands of bags all over the place. I saw some of them were from June 15, one was from June 2. I found my bag and I left."
A Dublin Airport Authority spokesperson said that they don't handle any baggage for any airline at Dublin Airport.?"We are liaising very closely with both the airlines and their ground handling companies in relation to these issues, the root of which lies in the significant staff hiring challenges that are facing all companies operating in the aviation sector currently," the spokesperson told Business Insider.?
