As fun as weddings are, they are also constricting in various ways. Couples often end up arguing over how things should be done during and after their ceremony. While Indians have a set pattern of how they like their weddings to play out, people in the West take liberties with their ceremonies and tend to add personal touches to surprise their friends and family.??
To stand out from the crowd, one couple in Toronto decided to do things their way. They skipped the traditional route of keeping a caterer for their wedding guests and decided to treat them all to McDonald¡¯s meals.?
Izzy Barreto tied the knot with her husband Justin last year in October. The couple decided to switch things up and spend over Rs 60,000 (CA$ 1000) on McDonald¡¯s for guests at their wedding instead of late-night catering.
The giant order included 100 double cheeseburgers, 100 pieces of junior chicken, and 150 fries. The couple, both 32 years old, pre-ordered the meal on Uber Eats ahead of their big day. The bride said, "We wanted to do something that wasn't super traditional."
She added, "Everyone loves a?McDonald's after a night of drinking, and we knew our guests would love it. Our caterer offered us late-night food, but we turned it down as we wanted to do something fun."
Izzy revealed that the whole idea of adding burgers and fries to the menu was for the couple to make their guests feel their vibe. As an extension of their relationship, the couple also decided to skip the traditional cake-cutting ceremony to have a classic cheeseboard, which was much more their speed. "It also just felt like an extension of us. We didn't stick to a lot of traditions. For example, we didn't have a wedding cake; we aren't big cake people, so we had a cheese board."
She added, "A lot of people stick to traditions to make other people happy, such as their guests or family, but it's your wedding day, so do whatever makes you happy."
The bride also revealed that her guests loved the idea: "Our guests absolutely loved the idea. We also let them take McDonald's home, so it was a win-win scenario."
