A brave Zimbabwean mother wrestled a crocodile to free her three-year-old son from the jaws of a crocodile. She did so by sticking her fingers in the reptile's nostrils.
According to a report, Maurina Musisinyana's two sons were playing in the shade of Runde River's banks near Gonarezhou National Park in the country's south east when she heard her son scream.?
The 30-year-old was fishing when a crocodile dragged her son to the water¡¯s edge; she watched in horror as this happened.?
Ms Musisinyana knew that if?she pressed crocodile¡¯s nose hard it would 'suffocate and lose some of its strength'. That is what she did and used her other arm to free her son's head from its mouth.?Before going back to the water the crocodile bit the courageous mother.?
¡°I pressed its nose hard, a tip I learnt from the elders long back. If you ?suffocate a crocodile from its nose it loses its strength and that is exactly what I did," she told Mirror.
The little boy, named Gideon suffered injuries to his face that made it hard from him to breathe. Both the mother and son were rushed to the hospital.??
After being released from the hospital Ms Musisinyana told ZBC News, ¡°Even to this day, I still do not believe that I rescued my son¡±.?
This is not an isolated incident. Many people in Chiredzi east and south have been killed while fishing or trying to cross the crocodile-infested Runde River, ZBC News reported.?
Hats off to the brave mother who risked her life for her son.?
