With over 16,000 employees reportedly terminated, Elon Musk¡¯s Tesla is surely under hot water.?
Over the past weekend, numerous employees received termination notices, with some sharing their experiences on the job-search platform LinkedIn. While some expressed optimism about finding better opportunities through the platform, others simply aimed to articulate their sentiments regarding the situation.
A former Tesla employee took to LinkedIn to share his perspective, highlighting that the company is "selling magic" with its robotaxis and autonomous robots. Despite acknowledging that there's never a favorable way for things to conclude, he expressed pride in the work he achieved during his tenure. Having served as a Factory Software Integration Engineer at Tesla for over a year and nine months, he offered insights into his experience within the company.
"What a way for it to end. It is with some disappointment that I announce I am joining the growing list of people affected by the #Teslalayoffs. There is never a good way for a thing to end when it is not in success and not on your terms. Regardless I am proud of the work we accomplished in the Factory Software team. I will look back on the time fondly. I have had thoughts since the massive layoffs began, but have not had time to express them until now," the ex-employee's post read.
Talking about how the company is selling magic, he added, "Tesla is selling magic. It is selling the future. It is selling robotaxis, and autonomous robots, and yes even futuristic looking pickups. It is selling engineers with rolled up sleeves and a stale coffee pot and singular determination in a world of problems no one seems to know how to solve. It is selling creation rather than destruction. It is selling the moon landing that you can park in your garage. It is selling a vision that brings people along rather than leaving them behind."
Elaborating on his plans for the future, the man wrote, "With that said, I will take some time to reset, then prepare for my next endeavour. I fell in love with software for dynamic manufacturing in pursuit of a future we can be proud of, and will potentially see what can be done to continue down this path. I believe there are still huge gains in this sector to unlock. If you are looking for expertise in the manufacturing space from someone who has implemented and supported software in a dynamic environment at impressive scale and eats challenges for breakfast, lets chat."

Another ex-employee shared the email that was sent to them to The Verge:
"I am reaching out to let you know that after a careful review of your permanent work restrictions and your role, it was determined that there was no reasonable accommodation that would enable you to perform the essential functions of your position in your role. The next step in the interactive process is the Alternative Job Search (AJS process), which consists of reviewing Tesla¡¯s internal and external job board to identify potential positions. This is to inform you that we have not identified any openings for which you appear qualified. Given recent changes in the business, we also do not currently anticipate any such openings in the near term. As such, we are advising that we intend to conclude the AJS process at this time. As we have not identified an alternative available position, we will begin processing your separation from employment with Tesla, effective May 3rd, 2024."
