"8 Worst Years Of My Existence": Somy Ali On Her Alleged Abusive Relationship With Salman Khan

Former actress and social activist Somy Ali has opened up publicly about being physically abused by Salman Khan throughout their relationship.
In her posts on Instagram, Somy elaborated on the toxicity and violence she endured while in a relationship with Dabangg actor Salman Khan.

However, she has explained why she deleted them in the past and claimed that "the eight years spent with him were the worst years of my entire existence."
She writes, directing her attention to the questions around why she chose to delete her earliest posts.
"Yes, because I had used profanity, my anger got the best of me. As the executive director of an NGO, it did not sit well with me to have profane posts on my social media. Thus, I deleted them."

"The eight years spent with him were the worst years of my existence. In addition to tonnes of affairs and flings, he would constantly belittle me by calling me ugly, stupid, and dumb. Not a day passed that he wouldn't make me feel worthless and small. "
Somy added that Salman never acknowledged her publicly and went around with other women.

"He would not acknowledge me as his girlfriend in public for years, and when he finally did, he would insult me in front of his friends and berate me nonstop. I have no qualms in saying that given his treatment of me, I chose to have affairs, which are essentially defined as a search for someone who would care for me and love me."
She detailed the events that took place between her and Salman in her post, in which she also accused the superstar of committing an act of misogyny and hitting women,

"Someone who would not insult me and would actually be nice to me. Unfortunately, I was unaware that these men were simply using me, and I was building a future with each affair while I was simply being used. When Salman learned of these affairs, he had the guts to after beating me, saying that I am a man and only men can cheat, not women. I was aghast at that statement and the sexism that reeked from it. Let's not forget that just because Salman or anyone else is nice to you, they are the same as others. I had it the worst in terms of verbal, sexual, and physical abuse."
She also spoke up: "What took you so long to come out and talk about what you went through with Salman Khan?"
"This is not breaking news by any means. Rummage through any tabloid or a film magazine from the early 90's to 1999 and you will read articles about Somy being physically abused by Salman," she said.
She also elaborated on the 'dark and hidden side of Salman Khan' and how revealing her truth will bring it out, Somy said,

"This is redundant, as I just explained in the question above. I want my truth to be known because I want my dignity and self-respect, which he ripped off of me, to be regained. I am looking for vindication, as that will also be a part of my healing. I am not seeking revenge; rather, I want him to confess to what he did to me and publicly apologize, which I know a man like Salman will never do. He is an egotistical maniac and will never change. He has far too many demons to ever be able to redeem himself for what he did to many women and even men simply by using his power."

"She began shedding tears because she couldn't stand to see my condition. In 2018, I had back surgery because I couldn't get out of bed. The surgeon asked me when it started, and I told him it was primarily due to a fall from a horse during a film shoot. Then the doctor asked me if I was ever in a physically abusive relationship, and I told him the truth. Being beaten and thrown around like a rag doll exacerbated my back problems with time, and now I have three titanium screws in my back and hardware in my stomach solely so I can stand up and function."
After his relationship with Somy Ali ended, Salman Khan was frequently linked to other actresses, including Katrina Kaif, Sangeeta Bijlani, and Aishwarya Rai, who is now married to Abhishek Bachchan.
