'They're Scared Of So-Called Pappu¡¯: Swara Bhasker On Rahul Gandhi's Disqualification From Lok Sabha

The Congress on Friday announced a nationwide agitation against Rahul Gandhi¡¯s disqualification, alleging that the government has acted with lightning speed to "gag" him and calling for taking forward opposition unity in a systematic manner.

The Surat court sentenced Thursday Rahul Gandhi to two years in jail in a defamation case filed on a complaint by BJP MLA Purnesh Modi for his alleged remark,

"How come all thieves have Modi as the common surname?"

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot also hit out at the BJP, saying that the Congress leader is the voice of the nation and he will come out stronger against this kind of "dictatorship".

Soon after the Lok Sabha Secretariat disqualified Gandhi, the top leaders of the Congress gathered at the party's headquarters to discuss what to do next.

Amid the turbulence, actress Swara Bhasker tweeted in favour of Gandhi.

Bhasker has never been one to hold back from sharing her thoughts on contentious matters of society and politics.

The recognition of Rahul Gandhi, leader of the Congress party, in Parliament was revoked on a Friday. Swara Bhasker's response to the same topic has drawn considerable interest.

Swara stated that people are so terrified of the so-called 'Pappu' that the law has been heavily abused.

She thinks this plan is part of a scheme to stop Rahul Gandhi from running in the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

Swara continued her criticism of the government by tweeting that he still has a seat in the Lok Sabha.

Surat court found Rahul guilty of defamation and sentenced him to two years in prison.

Under Section 8 of the Representation of the People Act, the Lok Sabha Secretariat took Rahul Gandhi out of the House of Representatives.
