Shah Rukh Khan Has The Most Sensible Take On Pay Disparity In The Hindi Film Industry
This story is based on SRK's latest interview where he gave his piece of mind on pay-parity in Bollywood.
Bollywood actors have time and again spoken about pay disparity in Bollywood. Few months ago, Bollywood¡¯s Dhak Dhak girl Madhuri Dixit opened up on how she was more paid for her film Hum aapke hain Koun than Salman Khan.
While celebrities have always pitched for equal pay, pay disparity is something that still exists in the industry. The matter of the fact still is that actresses are paid lesser than actors.
Many actresses have opened up about this pay gap, actors have chosen to stay mum on it. In a recent interview with Huffington post, Bollywood¡¯s Badshah made some valid points on the same. He said:
"I feel every woman in this industry works three times harder than the men and gets ten times lesser the money. But not in my company. I can¡¯t enforce that in the films that I act in and don¡¯t produce ¡ª but the ones that I produce, there¡¯s equal pay. Plus, their name appears before mine in the title credits.¡±
Srk added how actors can adopt small changes, he added:
"I don¡¯t talk about the change. I am the change. In my films, the girl¡¯s name always comes before mine. On my film¡¯s set, the girl is always in a higher position than men ¨C nobody can call them 'tu'; it¡¯s always 'aap'."
This man is way more awesome than we think!
