Mischievous Maryland Students Pull Off Prank By Listing Their School As 'Nice Half-working Jail' On Zillow
High school seniors from Meade High School in Fort Meade, Maryland, recently pulled a prank on their school by creating a listing for the property on Zillow. However, the listing has since been deleted.
Last week, a group of high school seniors in Fort Meade, Maryland, decided to prank their high school by attempting to sell it on Zillow. According to local news outlets, they listed Meade High School on the real estate website for $42,069 in price.
The prank listing, which was later taken down, included humorous details such as a "complementary trash-scented air freshener" and mentioned "water issues."
The students also humorously described the school as a "nice half-working jail," highlighting "sewage issues" in all 15 bathrooms and jokingly warning about "dangerous unfinished sections that could cost you your life."
The listing also said, "Your neighbors are rodents and insects that will make you squeal!"
While the content of the listing may have been somewhat insulting, Bob Mosier, a spokesperson for Anne Arundel County Public Schools, openly acknowledged that he found the prank humorous.
"This is incredibly creative advertising, but we are stunned that the listers so vastly underestimated the value of this prime real estate with amazing amenities," he said in a statement to media outlets.
"Potential buyers surely will be flocking to snap this deal up, right? This won¡¯t be on the market for long."
Interestingly, seniors from the same school district had previously engaged in a similar prank involving another educational institution.
During the onset of the coronavirus pandemic in the spring of 2020, students from Broadneck High School in Annapolis, Maryland, placed a "for sale" sign outside their school as a playful gesture.
"It, like the Meade High School prank, was simply funny," Mosier told Patch. "No one was hurt, no property was damaged, and everyone got a great laugh."
