Video Of Indonesian Teachers Throwing Students' Confiscated Cellphones In Fire Goes Viral
In the video, teachers were seen throwing smartphones into a barrel of fire as students watched 每 horrified - from a distance.
In most schools carrying a cellphone is absolutely banned. But students nowadays do break the rules and carry those sometimes knowing the consequences it could have. However, teachers in Indonesia had a rather hard punishment after they caught students with cellphones.
A video has surfaced online where teachers were throwing smartphones into a barrel of fire as students watched horrified - from a distance. All the shocked students were seen pleading the teachers to stop but in vain. One of the teachers even threw an iPhone into the blaze in a barrel.
※Cellphone raids at Islamic boarding schools, cell phones are confiscated and burned,§ reads the caption of the post when translated from Indonesian to English.
According to the Indonesian websites, there is no mention as to where or specifically, when, the video was recorded, as neither the students nor teachers present appeared to be wearing face masks.
Many people on the internet were left fuming by the video. Some said the teachers should be punished and sued for damaging assets. However, many argued the teachers might have warned them before taking such a harsh step.
※Maybe the boarding school has reprimanded it many times. Maybe in this way, the students will give upbringing cellphones,§ a user said.
However, a large number of netizens didn't approve of the method saying, ※Educators by name, and yet they choose to set such a poor example. If something doesn*t belong to us, we have no right to destroy it. They could have confiscated it and then returned the phones to the students a week later," wrote another.
Do you think this punishment was way too harsh for the students or were the teachers right?
