Irked by Sunny Deol's lack of interest in the betterment of the people of his constituency, people are demanding the BJP MP's resignation.?Bollywood actor Sunny Deol and BJP MP "Missing" posters have been sighted in Pathankot, Punjab.?
Posters condemning the MP from Gurdaspur have been affixed to the walls of various homes, railway stations, and cars throughout the city. They read,?"gumshuda ki talash (search for the missing)."?
The outraged locals said he should quit if he did not wish to work.
"After becoming the MP, he never visited Gurdaspur. He calls himself the son of Punjab, but he hasn't brought any industrial development, has not allocated MP funds or brought any central government scheme here," news agency ANI quoted a protesting local as saying."If he doesn't want to work, he should tender his resignation," he added.
Since being chosen to represent the constituency as an MP, Deol has drawn criticism from opposing political parties.
His last visit had been six months before this one. He did not, however, engage with the public as farmers' resentment of the since-repealed three-farm legislation intensified.
Despite being in high demand for the campaign due to his celebrity status, Deol did not show up to campaign for BJP candidates and allies in the recently conducted Punjab assembly elections.?
Only one seat¡ªPathankot¡ªwas won by the BJP in the Majha area. Ashwani Sharma, the state president of the BJP, was chosen for this post.?
