Uday Krishna Reddy from Prakasam District of Andhra Pradesh has gotten possibly the best revenge he could have hoped for as he cleared the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam.
According to the UPSC CSE 2023 examination results announced on April 16, Reddy bagged the All India Rank (AIR) of 780.?
Reddy was a former constable with the Andhra Pradesh Police but resigned from service after being subjected to public humiliation by his senior officer.
According to Reddy who joined the Andhra Pradesh Police in 2013, he was humiliated by a Circle Inspector (CI) in 2018, in front of others, over a personal issue.
This led to him resigning on the same day, to pursue civil service.
"The CI humiliated me in front of 60 policemen. I resigned from the job the same day and started preparing for UPSC Civil Services," Reddy said.
And after five years, his pursuit has paid off as he bagged the 780th rank in the Civil Service exam.
With this, Reddy is eligible to be assigned to the Indian Revenue Service (IRS). But the former cop is not planning to settle for the IRS and aims to continue his studies until he qualifies for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
This year, a total of 1,016 candidates (664 men and 352 women) have qualified for the prestigious civil services examination and have been recommended by the UPSC for appointment to various services including IAS, IPS and IFS.
