Marine life is full of surprises because there is so much of it that we still don't know about. A?fisherman?in Connecticut, US, caught an enormous tiger muskie fish that was 41 inches long.?
Joe Rivas was fishing in Lake Lillinonah last month when he caught the unique fish.?
The Connecticut Fish and Wildlife shared an image of the giant fish on their Facebook page. ¡°How is your summer fishing going?! Thanks to Joe for sharing this photo of an impressive tiger muskie he recently caught. The tiger muskie is a cross between a northern pike and a muskellunge," they captioned the post.?
Rivas told the News-Times that he was surprised to pull two big tiger muskies from Lillonah last month.?
¡°When I saw it flash in the water and I actually saw the wide profile. I knew what it was, and the adrenaline just went through the roof," he told the outlet.?
The fish was released after being caught by Joe Rivas, Newsweek reported.?
The tiger muskie, also known as the tiger muskellunge, is a large carnivorous fish?known for its aggressive behaviour. The fish is a member of the pike family and is more common?in Midwestern waters in the US.?
As per Newsweek, tiger muskies?have long cylindrical bodies and a prominent snout. Adult tiger muskies can grow to between 34 and 48 inches and weigh more than 30 pounds.?
According to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW), tiger muskies have a reputation for being difficult to catch and have earned the nickname ¡°fish of a thousand casts¡±.?
People were left stunned by the size of the fish.?
¡°I don't want to swim anywhere anymore," one user commented.?¡°I would not be happy at the thought of that swimming with me. Looks prehistoric,¡± another said.?¡°I wasn't familiar with the fish and googled. That might be a record-breaker. Nothing looked half that size! Impressive," a third added.?
¡°What a monster!¡± another said.?
Earlier in May,?US fishermen Justin Jordan and Terrell Maguire caught a rarely seen jet-black river beast in southeast Texas.?
Jordan, a fishing guide in Texas, revealed that the creature they caught was a 'very rare'?melanistic alligator gar. He said that the fish was about 5 feet long, and is known to reach ¡°enormous lengths¡±.
The fishing guide shared several photos on social media that showed the jet-black creature thrashing around in the water.?
¡°Well¡ me and Terrell found out melanistic gar do exist yesterday..," he wrote in the caption of the post.
The pictures showed the creature with its mouth open, displaying a row of large white teeth.??
