There is no such thing as ¡®Vegetarian Biryani¡¯ - it's called?¡®Pulao¡¯. Anyone who thinks otherwise is most probably vegetarian.?
The bad news is that vegetarians might soon lose the right to call a veggie burger, a burger. The European Parliament thinks that there is no such thing called a ¡®Vegetarian Burger¡¯ because a burger is only made up of meat.
It proposed a new rule that if a product does not contain meat, it cannot be called a burger or sausage or steak. The amendment was passed by the agricultural committee this week.
Eric Andrieu, a French Socialist member of the European Parliament, introduced the proposal. But, environmentalists said that it was undermining the growing demand for plant-based foods.

¡°We didn¡¯t support the proposal,¡± Molly Scott Cato, a British member of the European Parliament told NYT. ¡°We don¡¯t see any problem with calling a veggie burger a veggie burger.¡±
But how did they get the idea to ban vegetarian burger? The dairy producers were the first to allege that the competitors selling plant-based foods were using misleading labels?such as ¡®tofu butter¡¯ or ¡®veggie cheese¡¯ and won a ruling from the European Court of Justice.
As part of its vote last week, the agricultural committee added to the dairy restrictions a rule that would ban the use of phrases like 'yoghurt style' or 'butter substitute' for plant-based products.
The proposal must get nods from full European Parliament and only then the rule will be passed.?
