¡®My Husband Has Freed Me', Diya Aur Baati Hum Actor Nupur Alankar Quits Showbiz To Take Sanyaas
Small screen actress Nupur Alankar has quit acting to take sanyaas.
Actress Nupur Alankar, who spent almost three decades in the showbiz as an actor, has quit acting to embrace the life of a Sanyasi. The popular television actress is visiting pilgrimage sites and is now headed to the Himalayas.
In a latest interview with ETimes, Nupur Alankar has shared that after almost 27 years of her acting career, she decided to quit showbiz and renounce all the worldly desires.
The former actress can be seen donning a saffron outfit, sporting grey hair without any make-up in a picture that has surfaced on the internet.
¡°I took sanyaas in February. I am busy visiting pilgrimages and have involved myself in helping those in need. I have always been inclined towards spiritualism and had been following adhyatm, so it was a matter of time before I devoted myself completely to it.
I have been blessed to find the right guru Shambhu Sharan Jha, all thanks to my time at CINTAA (Cine and TV Artistes Association), where I worked as a committee member and held health workshops. It brought me contact with my guru and another master healer, which changed the course of my life,¡± the Diya Aur Baati Hum actress told the portal.
Earlier, it was reported that Nupur Alankar had lost all her money in the PMC Bank scam in 2019. Renuka Shahane, who happens to be Nupur's close friend shared her ordeal on social media and asked people to help her financially. At the time Nupur Alankar's mother was ill and she needed money for hospitalization.
"A very dear actress friend of mine, Nupur Alankar has been facing a lot of financial problems due to all her money unfortunately being stuck in the PMC bank which crashed leaving their customers in the lurch. Nupur has been taking care of her ailing mother with whatever income she was generating through acting & practicing alternate therapy," actress Renuka Shahane had written back then.
"Due to the lockdown that work has stopped. Her mother needs hospitalization which is going to cost a lot. I am sharing her mother's account details. Do donate whatever you can to help. Trust me when I say that Nupur is the last person who would ask for help unless she was pushed to the brink. Thank you (sic)," she added.
Speaking of how she has been taking care of her travel and basic expenses, actress Nupur said, "It is indeed a big step. Being in the Himalayas will uplift and accelerate my spiritual journey. I have rented out my flat in Mumbai to take care of my travel and basic expenses.¡±
Amused by people's reactions to her decision of choosing a different path in life, Nupur further went on to say, ¡°I don¡¯t know why people think I am emotionally devastated and tired of life to take this decision (laughs!). One doesn¡¯t need to be down and out to go on the spiritual path.¡± She also mentioned that it the Covid-19 lockdown that helped her become detached.
Nupur has featured in a number of TV shows that includes - Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam, Neethane En Ponvasantham, Na Bole Tum Na Maine Kuch Kaha Season 2, Kotha Kahini and Diya Aur Baati Hum among others.
