Gangster Vinod Upadhyay Carrying Rs 1 Lakh Bounty Killed In Encounter By Uttar Pradesh Police STF

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday said that a gangster carrying a reward of Rs 1 lakh on his head was killed in an encounter.
Vinod Upadhyay, son of Ramkumar Upadhyay, resident of Mayabazar police station Maharajganj Ayodhya, had sustained injuries in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force in Sultanpur district on Friday morning.
He was taken to a hospital, where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Upadhyay's history of crimes
As many as 35 cases of heinous crimes, including several kidnapping and murder cases, were registered against Upadhyay in Gorakhpur, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar and Lucknow.
In September 2023, Gorakhpur police had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh on him.
According to police, Upadhyay was a big name in the world of crime and included in the list of the top 61 mafia of Uttar Pradesh.
Killed in encounter with police
On Thursday night, an encounter broke out between the STF team led by Dy SP Deepak Kumar Singh and Upadhyay in the Kotwali police station area.
In the encounter, Upadhyay was seriously injured, and he was brought to the medical college in Sultanpur for treatment, where he was declared dead.
After the encounter, a large cache of arms, including a pistol, a sten gun and cartridges, along with a Swift car, was recovered from the spot.
